MorgueFile
Despite the ominous name and creepy image, MorgueFile is not a scary website at all! It’s a website hosting free public domain images with very clear copyright rules. The copyright terms listed at the link above are written in lay terms, so it’s super easy to understand that, for instance, I’m allowed to download this fun image of an abandoned building and do whatever I want with it as long as I either alter the image or credit the photographer. Each image also restates it’s copyright status, just so you can be sure that you don’t violate the trust of the creator who willed their work to the public domain, instead of holding the copyright. For those savvy with stock media, there’s also premium videos, vectors, and templates from Shutterstock on the website, but it’s not even all that necessary with the variety of images available.
